Donmar, challenging our thinking about the theatre yet again! What should we show 14-year-old kids who have never been to the theatre, should it be the same plays that we theatre goers are used to seeing? This year Donmar Warehouse has decided to commission a completely different play for their state school tour. AI, what it means to be a man/boy, loneliness as a teenager, learning to speak your feelings, Donmar’s new play has all of that. And do the boys react to the play!!! This is what I saw today at the Westminster state school.
FRANKENSTEIN ADJUSTS HIS RING LIGHT (AND THEN STARTS DANCING) by Eve Leigh and directed by Anthony Lau, part of Donmar’s annual tradition to produce a creative theatre for 11-14-year-olds and take it on a school tour. The Schools’ Tour is a flagship production from the Donmar’s LOCAL.

An incredible Donmar LOCAL programme, created to give opportunities for bringing people together to celebrate stories and new voices through theatre experiences. So happy to have a chance to support this great initiative.
